Arkansas CMA dobro player of the year ’2021’
ACM Nomination “Specialty Instrument Player of the Year” ‘2022’
I was born in Minden, LA August 3rd, 1982. Grew up in the small town of Magnolia, AR where I graduated from Magnolia High School in 2001. I was born into a family of bluegrass musicians; where my mom and uncle toured with their bluegrass band from about 1978 thru 1984. My mom sang, played bass and guitar, my uncle played dobro. I began to grace the stage with them at shows around the age of 3 singing and playing (strumming) mandolin. I started seriously learning to play guitar and sing at age 7 entering talent shows and playing festivals all around the TX,OK, LA, AR area. I began dobro and lap steel at age 12 and I haven't looked back since. I had my own bluegrass band at age 16 until I moved to Nashville in the Summer of 2001 to begin Belmont University. I then started playing with Grand Ole Opry members The Whites. I've performed/recorded and/or did road gigs with artists such as SheDaisy, Ricky Skaggs, Vince Gill, Earl Scruggs, Meghan Trainor, Lucy Hale, Jo Dee Messina, Sara Evans, Ashley Monroe, Kacey Musgraves, Richard Marx, Hugh Jackman, Patty Loveless, Ashley McBryde, Rebecca Lynn Howard, Emmylou Harris, and Jerry Douglas... I've performed at the Grand Ole Opry a number of times and traveled overseas with country and bluegrass artists. I graduated from Belmont in the summer of 2005 with degree in Music Business Management/Marketing. Writing, singing, recording and performing keeps me running day to day and I wouldn't have it any other way. It's been a part of my life since day one and continues to get more and more exciting everyday!
I am a husband to Daphne and a dad to Noah and Jonah. My wife Daphne is a former morning meteorologist at CBS in Michigan and NBC in Nashville, TN. She has now moved on to public speaking, life coaching and podcasting toward helping others find and pursue their purpose!
If I couldn't play or sing music I guess I would fly planes ---I'm a pilot--- started learning to fly at age 14 --- my grandpa and uncle got me started in this, they're big aviation fans as well as myself and own small airport in south AR. I also love to hunt/fish and spend time in South AR with my family.
